Destination

My husband and I just got back from a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. We had a great time, but on the way back I started thinking about something. Of COURSE I had to blog it. ;-)

When traveling you come across different cities and places, while driving to your destination. You disregard all that’s in between because that is not where you need to go. Each little town you pass by, there’s a sigh because it’s not the location you want to be at.

That’s how we are with God sometimes. We wake up to blessing after blessing each day, yet we want to disregard each of them, because it’s not the blessing we wanted. We are selfish humans and we can’t accept what God has given us. Even though what He’s done is in our best interest, we still are not thankful with what we have. It’s like when a kid doesn’t receive the gift he/she wanted for Christmas or birthday.

We should accept what God has given us. Because each day we wake up, breathing and in good health, that’s a HUGE blessing. It’s a blessing we forget to thank God for each day. Some people can’t even get out of bed, if you can, PRAISE THE LORD! =) If you get from point A to point B without injury, PRAISE THE LORD!

Look around you, there’s a lot to be thankful for. Just because we don’t receive what we wanted, doesn’t mean it’s not a blessing. God has greater plans than we will EVER know. God is perfect and God is all knowing. His mind does not change and he doesn’t come up with new ideas. If He did such, it would mean he was not perfect.

Praise God for each and ever blessing. He’s our Father and he loves us, no matter what we’re going through. Whatever trial we may be enduring. God is good, ALL THE TIME! =)

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

- Psalm 150:6

I Turn To CBS And What Do I SEE?!

Posted by: Nicci Keathley in Uncategorized No Comments »

I have a hard time sleeping decent hours. Now a days it seems I don’t fall asleep til 2am or a little after. It seems the only time I get sleepy is around then. I assume at some point I’ll get my sleeping schedule back on track, but for now… this is it.

So, at night I have my schedule. I mostly look forward to watching a Christian show called, Wretched. It really makes me think and it convicts me. I LOVE preaching, shows, music, etc that convicts me. Encourging words are great, but we’re not good people here. Us, ourselves, are evil from birth.

Anywho, that’s beside the point. After Wretched goes off, I turn over to CBS(because I watch Seinfeld if it’s a decent episode), but normally don’t keep it there for long. Since the news runs over therefore the rest of the shows after do. So, Craig Ferguson is usually still on. During this time of his show, some weird band is usually performing. Most look high on drugs or they are singing some song and saying the same things over and over again.  For example one night a guy was saying over and over again, I DON’T KNOW WHY I HAVE PROBLEMS. Of COURSE I yell at the tv, IT’S BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE JESUS, but he didn’t hear me. LOL My point is, usually it’s an annoying band. :P

Tonight was different. I turn over to CBS and I find……. THIRD DAY!!!! I was like, WOW! Third Day, on THIS show? Usually the show represents nothing about God. He usually has some weird person on that speaks blasphemy. Or someone you think kinda gets it, but in the end they don’t. Mostly the show talks about sex and Craig makes sexual jokes or see’s what he can slip by the censor(this is why I don’t watch this show).

Third Day performed the song Revelation, they did a good job. Even though the song is filled with you’s and if you are not a Christian you  might think it’s a love song. At the end , Mac said “I am nothing without you, Lord” and I was like SCORE! YAY! It was so awesome to watch. Finally something I could watch on the show. LOL

Way to go Third Day! =)

One of Paul Washer’s best sermons! You preach it buddy! Don’t even press play if you’re not going to watch it all.

Delight In The Word Of God

Posted by: Nicci Keathley in Uncategorized 2 Comments »

Do we rejoice in God’s Word as one who finds great spoil?

I rejoice in your promise
like one who finds great spoil.

- Psalms 119:162

The key is to consume the Word of God, to mediate upon the Word, digest it and let it become part of us. The Bible is a supernatural book. It can give us supernatural energy to do the will of God.

On the first day of the seventh month, the people came together in the open area in front of the Water Gate. Then they asked Ezra, who was a teacher of the Law of Moses, to read to them from this Law that the LORD had given his people. Ezra the priest came with the Law and stood before the crowd of men, women, and the children who were old enough to understand. 3From early morning till noon, he read the Law of Moses to them, and they listened carefully. Ezra stood on a high wooden platform that had been built for this occasion. Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah were standing to his right, while Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hash Baddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam were standing to his left.

Ezra was up on the high platform, where he could be seen by everyone, and when he opened the book, they all stood up. Ezra praised the great LORD God, and the people shouted, ” Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed with their faces to the ground and worshiped the LORD.

After this, the Levites Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah went among the people, explaining the meaning of what Ezra had read.

The people started crying when God’s Law was read to them. Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher, and the Levites who had been teaching the people all said, ” This is a special day for the LORD your God. So don’t be sad and don’t cry!”

Nehemiah told the people, ” Enjoy your good food and wine and share some with those who didn’t have anything to bring. Don’t be sad! This is a special day for the LORD, and he will make you happy and strong.”

The Levites encouraged the people by saying, ” This is a sacred day, so don’t worry or mourn!” When the people returned to their homes, they celebrated by eating and drinking and by sharing their food with those in need, because they had understood what had been read to them.

- Nehemiah 8:1-12

Too many fail to read the Bible every day. They find time to feed their stomach each day, but refuse to make time to read God’s Word. Don’t let your belly take precedent over reading the Bible. Forget your food rather than forget the Word of God.

Moses stayed on the mountain with the LORD for forty days and nights, without eating or drinking. And he wrote down the Ten Commandments, the most important part of God’s agreement with his people.

- Exodus 34:28

I got this from my evidence bible today. I’ve always felt it’s important to read God’s word, daily. Even if you have read through the whole bible, it’s still great to read it every single day. Because God speaks to us through His Word. He teaches me new things every time I open it up. =)

New Beginnings

We are now new members of Faith Baptist Church! We feel God has called us to this church and for a reason. We attended Sunday school Sunday and it was awesome. Matt talked and discussed things, it was great.

Before the preacher got up to preach, I felt God tugging at me. And throughout the whole service I was praying. I said God, if you want us here let me know for sure. I knew if Matt agreed we should join, that it was right. Because it’s crazy when we both agree on things we would probably never agree on(if that makes sense). That’s how we really know it’s God, because it’s just too radical.

That’s what happened when we joined STBC too. I went there to play and that night before bed we talked about the church. The first thing we brought up was joining the church. We would have never thought of joining that church in a million years because of all the bad things said about it. BUT God really did a number on our hearts.

I’m a little skeptical about the church being so big. At the same time, it’s more people to meet and grow close too. More people to witness too, it’s amazing when you think about. After awhile, it wont seem like such a big church. Plus a growing church is not a dead church.

I love the music at Faith and I LOVE the preaching. I love a pastor that’s not afraid to tell it like it is. Not afraid to offend people, because Jesus wasn’t afraid off that either. He was loving, but at the same time called people out. I also like a pastor that’s not afraid to go deeper into the bible. It’s awesome to preach the law and preach about getting saved. It’s also great to preach about other things in the bible too, so we can grow and learn.

In other news, my car is broke. The clutch is messed up and it’s going to cost a pretty penny to fix it. So, we don’t know if we want to fix it or save up and buy a newer car. Right now we’re saving and praying, hehe. God will show us what He wants us to do in time. At this point, my car is so old and has so many things wrong with it, we are wondering if it’s worth putting so much money into it. It’ll be sad to get rid of it and buy another, but these are things you have to deal with in life.

Ask me, and I will tell you things that you don’t know and can’t find out.

-  Jeremiah 33:3

I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brain and brawn to work.
I asked for courage and God gave me danger to overcome.
I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted.
I received everything I needed.

Bring The Rain

In 2003 I got my first car, my grandparents bought it for me. It’s a ‘97 chevy cavalier, and I loved it to death. First time I set my eyes on it, I fell inlove. We’re all like that with our cars. We want something that just fits us, you sit in the seat and you go. THIS IS FOR ME! :p

It’s been here for my husband and I throughout the years. It was our only car for the longest of time. It got Matt back and forth to work on two different jobs, jobs that were 20mins or so away. My lil car has been a great need of transportation. Most all things that’s happened to it, has been minor…. Til now. :/

It’s having clutch issue’s and we don’t know if we should fix it(which will be over $700), don’t know if it’s worth the fix or not. So, we are thinking about selling it(nothing set in stone). It’s going to be hard to do so, but I knew this time would come some day.

This doesn’t mean I wont ever have another car again. Matt and I plan to save up and buy me another car. Since I don’t have a job, we really don’t need a second car. I do have doctor appointments sometimes and also grocery shop by myself. All in all though, I don’t use my car much these days. So, cutting down to just one automobile wont be that bad. It will actually save us money to do so(insurance, taxes, tags, gas).

When it rains it pours though, Matt got a screw in his tire today. Thanks to God though, he got it fixed for free. =). GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME! GOD IS SO GOOD! =) Sooooo thankful to be a Christian and living for God. I know if something bad happens, He’s here. I also know that it will get better, because it says so in His word. I wont give up and walk away, because my God is strong. My flesh is weak but in God I am strong! PRAISE GOD!

Tomorrow Is The Day

Tomorrow is a huge day for America. Our votes determined the next president of the United States. America is not like it use to be. There’s a lot less Christians doing the Christ thing, more following the world. When you are standing at the machine, ready to cast your vote. Are you going to think with your wallet? Or you going to think with the bible? What does God say? How would God vote? It’s down to two people to vote for, Obama or Mccain. Which will you vote for? Please think long and hard about it and pray deeply.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people

-Proverbs 14:34

God will put in the white house who He wants, because I believe God is fully in control. We’ve had decent presidents and terrible ones. Let’s see how the next four years go. No one will ever be the perfect president and the man I voted will not. I voted for him because I had too, I can’t vote for a man who is for abortion. God is against it, therefore I am. One man says he will help the poor, one man really wont. At the same time. I have to vote with my bible and not my wallet. I can’t vote yes to killing unborn babies.

Who will you vote for? America, it’s up to you.

Cards

As most of you know we’re in search for a new church home. So far so good, God is really showing us the way. It’s amazing when you give God your all, what he can do in  your life.

This morning we visited a church that looks promising. Matt and I both got a lot out of the message, it was awesome. The music was great as well, a mixture of hymns and praise & worship. I’m not saying we’ll join, but it’s the first church we have felt comfortable. Who knows where God will lead us.

The message this morning was about dealing wih the cards you are dealt with, in life. Some of us are dealt great cards, we’re happy with them. Some of us are dealt crappy cards, some are a mixture of good and bad. And we’ve all come to that point in our lives where we want to trade in the bad for the good. Maybe we should just keep them all and learn to live with what God has given us? After all He does love us and what he’s given us has made us who we are. Then he preached about Job, which is my favorite book in the bible. If you ever feel down and out, read Job. It will change your outlook on things.

Here lately I feel we’ve been dealt a pretty crappy hand. We were at an awesome church for a year, got so close to the youth and the people. We loved so much working with the youth, we miss them terribly. Even though I feel we’ve been dealt a bad hand at the moment, we should live with it. God has given us these cards for a reason. During this time we’re leaning on Him and He’s guiding us through this rough time. Look at the end of Job. So many things were taken away from him, yet in the end he got twice as much back. We have high hopes God is going to put us in the right place. This hand of cards is not so bad. =)

In other news, I have added two new pages to this site. A music page, which has links to my music. Also a photography page, which has some of my work on it. These two things are huge in my life, thought I would share it with you guys. So, be sure and check it out.

I shall leave you guys with this.

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will depart.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised.”

- Job 1:21
